Giannini Scores Wild Win in the SPEARS Modifieds at Havasu 95 Speedway

Bakersfield, CA – Jaron Giannini dominated the Spears Modified Series event at Havasu 95 Speedway Saturday afternoon, but had to withstand multiple restarts in the last 15 laps to score his first career victory in the series and take home the $1,500 paycheck in the Fytron Software LLC 75 presented by STR”. Giannini finished ahead of Sam Jacks, Jimmy Sloan, Brian Williams and Bruce Bonnett, after a three-wide incident with five laps to go ended top-five efforts by Eddie Secord, Andrew Anderson, and Kyle Jacks.
Giannini led the 20-car field in qualifying and headed the field over Eddie Secord for a large portion of the event, before the wild finish. A late race restart found Giannini on the inside line with Secord, Anderson and Kyle Jacks following in the double file restart. With Giannini jumping to the lead, Anderson was able to work his way to the inside of Secord, pressuring the veteran for the runner-up position. Coming off Turn #2, with just five laps to go, Kyle Jacks jumped to the inside of the dueling duo. Entering Turn #3, Anderson and Secord made contact, in the tight three-wide battle. Secord ended up launching into the Turn #3 wall, demolishing his SPEARS Modified. Anderson was able to continue with damage at the tail of the field, but rookie driver Kyle Jacks was parked by rule, eliminating a fine run for all three competitors.
Giannini was able to hold off Sam Jacks and Jimmy Sloan on a single file restart over the last three laps to score his first series victory, in only his second start. After Williams and Bonnett, Jimmy Petrie, Ben Williams, a recovering Andrew Anderson, William Guevara and Ray Mros rounded out the top-10. The next event for the Spears Modified Series will be the All-Star Showdown at Irwindale Speedway on February 5th. They will compete for the $5,000 winner’s share.
